Attorney Charlie Spies will serve as a senior adviser this cycle to the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC dedicated to protecting and growing the House GOP’s majority.

“Charlie Spies’ reputation speaks for itself,” said CLF Chairman Norm Coleman, a former Republican senator from Minnesota, in a statement Thursday. “2012’s most effective GOP super PAC is excited to grow further as we fight big government, big labor bosses, and the job killing agenda of President Obama and his political operation for control of the U.S. House.”

CLF raised a combined $55 million last cycle with its nonprofit sister organization, the American Action Network, and spent $21 million on independent expenditures, according to the group.

Democrats picked up eight House seats last cycle and need 17 more in 2014 to win the majority.

Spies, who leads the political law practice at Clark Hill, is a veteran GOP operative. He founded a super PAC dedicated to supporting Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, and he served as chief financial officer and counsel on both Romney’s 2008 campaign and at the Republican Governors Association in 2005 and 2006. He previously served as election law counsel at the Republican National Committee.
