Legislators Get Extra Sugar

The PAC of the American Crystal Sugar Company, a cooperative of American beet and cane farmers in Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana, reported they passed out $177,500 in campaign contributions to 49 federal candidates and committees during February. The cooperative is concerned about tariffs and price supports, regulation on sugar sweetened products, and sugar to ethanol programs. Most of their contributions in February went to legislators on House and Senate committees regulating agriculture, energy, commerce, transportation, and tax. The PAC gave out $2.3 million in 2011-2011. View profile of the PAC for 2011-2012 cycle.
