Bob Ney Eyes The Monocle for Book Event

Former Rep. Bob Ney, the former buddy to Jack Abramoff and powerful House Administration chairman who went to prison for his misdeeds, is back in Washington, D.C., to promote his new book.

“Sideswiped: Lessons Learned Courtesy of the Hit Men of Capitol Hill” is being released Tuesday, and the Ohio Republican will be at the Senate-side restaurant The Monocle from 5 to 7:30 Wednesday evening to promote it.

“After some soul searching, a lot of aggravation, & some fun — IT’S HERE! Yes, I may need some bodyguards if I visit D.C.,” Ney tweeted recently, along with a link to the book.

Ney represented Ohio in the House for more than a decade before being felled by the Abramoff lobbying scandal. He served 17 months in a federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy and making false statements.

“Ironically, Bob’s life was forever changed for the better through a prison sentence that included a 12-step program,” his author’s bio notes. He also made the publicity rounds in 2010 for the Alex Gibney documentary “Casino Jack and the United States of Money.”

HOH plans to stop in — always good to know which hit men to avoid on Capitol Hill.
