Nanda Chitre has been named acting director of the office of public affairs at the Justice Department. She was deputy director. Chitre also has worked as a deputy press secretary at the White House under President Bill Clinton. She was a writer and researcher for the television series “The West Wing.”

Robert O. Work has been named CEO at the Center for a New American Security. He currently serves as undersecretary of the Navy. He worked as vice president for strategic studies and as a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. He also has served as a military assistant and senior aide to a former secretary of the navy. He retired from the Marine Corps with the rank of colonel.

Michael Young has been appointed executive director and head of the global government affairs and public policy team at Dell. Young was director of the company’s U.S. federal and state government affairs teams. He has worked as legislative director to Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas.

Carl Meacham has been hired as director of the Americas programs at the Center for Strategic & International Studies. Meacham was a senior adviser for Latin America and the Caribbean on the Republican staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He served as a special assistant to the deputy secretary at the Commerce Department. He also worked in the Cuban affairs bureau at the State Department.

Barbara Van Allen has been hired as senior director of stakeholder relations at the Center for Audit Quality. She was senior vice president of marketing and communications at the Mortgage Bankers Association. He also has served as chief marketing officer for Ability One/NISH. She was a managing director of global communications at Cushman & Wakefield.

Mark Millam has been hired as managing director for safety at trade group Airlines for America. Millam was the director of safety and compliance for Compass Airlines. He has worked as the Northwest director of safety for Delta Air Lines. He also has worked as director of safety for Northwest Airlines.

Sarah Magruder Lyle has been hired as vice president of strategic initiatives at the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, a trade group. Lyle was the vice president of external affairs for America’s Natural Gas Alliance. She has worked as a Washington representative for the American Petroleum Institute. She also has served at the Energy Department as a White House liaison and a senior adviser under President George W. Bush.

Thomas J. Dawson III has been hired as a senior congressional lobbyist at the American Dental Association. Dawson is a managing partner at TD & P Consulting. He has worked as a senior health care counsel to the Democratic staff of the House Small Business Committee. He also has worked as a pension law specialist and attorney at the Labor Department.

Gary Veron has joined the government regulatory practice as a partner at Hogan Lovells, a law and lobbying firm. Veron was counsel in the food and drug practice at law and lobbying firm Sidley Austin. He has worked as a technology development specialist at the National Institutes of Health. He also has worked as legislative counsel to the Maryland General Assembly.

Scott Fulton has been hired as a principal at Beveridge & Diamond, a law and lobbying firm. Fulton was general counsel for the EPA. He has served as deputy assistant administrator and acting assistant administrator in EPA’s office of international affairs. He also served as principal deputy general counsel and as a judge on the EPA’s environmental appeals board.
