South Carolina for Stephen Colbert?

Immediately following Sen. Jim DeMint’s announcement that he would be ditching the Senate to lead the Heritage Foundation, tweeters everywhere began playing their new favorite game: How many ways can we start rumors about Stephen Colbert being appointed to South Carolina’s Senate seat?

The truth is, it might not be the craziest idea ever.

If you’re reading, South Carolina Gov. Nikki R. Haley, here are four reasons HOH has come up with to make you more comfortable in assessing Colbert.

1. There’s a precedent for funny men in the Senate.
