Jesse Jackson Jr. Digs for Sale

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), who disappeared from the public eye in early June beneath a cloud of mystery ailments — the latest diagnosis: bipolar disorder — has put his Dupont Circle home up for sale.

“Like millions of Americans, Congressman Jackson and Mrs. Jackson are grappling with soaring healthcare costs and are selling their residence to help defray costs of their obligations,” Rick Bryant, Jackson’s chief of staff, said in a statement.

As originally reported by the Chicago Tribune, Jackson is asking $2.5 million for a tony 2,936-square-foot pad featuring four bedrooms, three full baths and a rooftop Jacuzzi.

According to real estate records, Jackson paid $575,000 for the same property in 1998.
