An upcoming House vote to repeal the 2010 health care law reopened old arguments on Sunday talk shows.

In a joint appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” Reps. Tom Price (R-Ga.) and Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) argued over whether the repeal vote is a waste of time.

Price, who worked as an orthopedic surgeon, said Republicans need to “provide that contrast” so voters “recognize that they have a choice here in Washington.”

Price is the sponsor of a bill to repeal the health care law and create tax credits for high-risk insurance pools, among other measures, but it has not moved in the House since its introduction last year.

“There are wonderful ways to solve the challenges that we face, whether it’s affordability or pre-existing or getting folks covered,” he said. “But you don’t have to put Washington in charge to do that.“

Becerra argued that the repeal vote, scheduled for Wednesday, is designed to score political points.

“You don’t have to go back and relitigate what we did two years ago,” Becerra said.

“We should be moving forward,” he added. “Why are we going backward and talking about what was already done, litigated, debated, passed and also affirmed by the Supreme Court. We should be talking about jobs.”
