The National Republican Congressional Committee recently made two additions to its 2012 team.

Katie Martin starts June 4 as Midwest press secretary, and Gerrit Lansing started a couple of weeks ago as the committee’s new digital director.

Martin on Friday left her position as press secretary for Arizona Senate candidate Wil Cardon, who is challenging Rep. Jeff Flake in the GOP primary to replace retiring Sen. Jon Kyl (R). Alyssa Pivirotto, who worked for 10 years in television news in Arizona and California, is replacing Martin on the Cardon campaign. “Working for Wil has been a great experience and he has the drive and determination to win this race and become a great U.S. Senator for Arizona,” Martin said in an email to the Arizona press corps Saturday.

Martin, who spent most of 2011 as press secretary to Rep. David McKinley (W.Va.), joins a communications team that includes regional press secretaries Nathaniel Sillin and Daniel Scarpinato, along with Communications Director Paul Lindsay and Deputy Communications Director Andrea Bozek. Meagan Holder was also recently promoted to deputy press secretary.

Lansing, a Sewanee grad, started his career at the Heritage Foundation before joining Rep. Peter Roskam’s (Ill.) office as new media director in 2010. Lansing became House Budget Committee press secretary under Chairman Paul Ryan (Wis.) last June.

Getting the Yob Done

A few days before Saturday’s GOP nominating convention, former Rep. Mark Neumann’s Wisconsin Senate campaign added consultant John Yob of Strategic National, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Yob has served this year as a Michigan adviser to former Sen. Rick Santorum’s (R-Pa.) presidential campaign and a general consultant to former Michigan Rep. Pete Hoekstra’s (R) Senate campaign. In 2010, Yob advised tea-party-affiliated Senate candidates Sharron Angle in Nevada and Christine O’Donnell in Delaware, among others.

Neumann led on the first two ballots at the convention, but no candidate finished with the 60 percent necessary to take the nomination. Neumann, former Gov. Tommy Thompson, state Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald and hedge fund manager Eric Hovde are vying for the nomination for this open Democratic seat.

DLCC Is a Go

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee and NGP VAN are partnering to bring state legislative candidates across the country a new product to help organize and win.

DLCC Go, as it’s called, is a suite of integrated new media, fundraising and field campaign tools that offers Democratic campaigns a “competitive technology edge,” according to a statement.

The DLCC is the national Democratic organization responsible for winning state legislative elections and providing organization support and strategies. NGP VAN is a leading new media provider to Democratic campaigns and committees, including for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, EMILY’s List and Obama for America.

DLCC Executive Director Michael Sargeant said in a statement that state legislative candidates “now have affordable access to NGP VAN’s advanced online toolkit, including a website platform that is fully integrated with their fundraising and field tools,” which Congressional candidates around the country are already using.

Saad Is Resolute

Resolute Consulting, a national public affairs and strategic communications firm, recently named Fayrouz Saad as vice president.

Saad, a former adviser at the Department of Homeland Security, works out of the firm’s Washington, D.C., office to implement communications and outreach programs across the world.

“Fayrouz’s depth and breadth of communications and outreach experience on national security issues make her an excellent addition to our team,” said Greg Goldner, Resolute Consulting’s founder and CEO.

Before working in the DHS Office for Intergovernmental Affairs, Saad worked for the National Network for Arab American Communities as the first civic engagement coordinator and previously spent more than three years working as a communications adviser and district director in the Michigan state House and Senate.

Hoosier State Defeat

State Treasurer Richard Mourdock trounced longtime Indiana Sen. Dick Lugar last week in the GOP primary and now looks to hold the seat against Rep. Joe Donnelly (D). The consulting team that helped Mourdock win the primary includes: media consultant Jason Miller of Jamestown Associates, general consultant Jeff Roe of Axiom Strategies, pollster John McLaughlin of McLaughlin & Associates, Patrick Mooney of Response America for direct mail, Steve Goodrick of RainMakers for national fundraising, and Kurt Luidhardt of the Prosper Group for online marketing and fundraising.
