Edwards Demands an Apology

Ex-Sen. John Edwards (N.C.) is fit to be tied.

The website DNAinfo.com published a story alleging that Edwards is the first famous name found in the Rolodex of Manhattan “Millionaire Madam” Anna Gristina. Gristina claims Edwards hired one of her women for an evening in 2007.

Edwards was running to be the 2008 Democratic nominee for president at the time.

“Mr. Edwards categorically denies that he was involved with any prostitute or service,” Allison Van Laningham, an attorney for Edwards, said in a statement. “These allegations are false, defamatory, and he puts those who would publish or repeat them on notice that they [are] acting with actual malice by reporting or repeating them. He has demanded a complete retraction from the only source being quoted.”

According to the DNAinfo story: “Records show the Edwards campaign spent thousands of dollars for near-monthly stays at the Loews Hotels Regency at 540 Park Ave. on the Upper East Side in 2007, along with stays at several other Manhattan hotels including a Comfort Inn on West 39th Street.”

That hotel is also where Edwards met videographer Rielle Hunter, the story continues. Hunter and Edwards began a relationship and have a child together.
