Rep. Connie Mack IV’s Senate bid got a boost Monday from his South Florida colleagues. Republican Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Mario Diaz-Balart and David Rivera, along with former Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, endorsed Mack at an event in Miami.

“With their help, we will defeat liberal Sen. Bill Nelson in November, we will restore the America we know and love, and we will renew our nation’s commitment to freedom, security and prosperity for all Americans,” he said.

Mack, who represents a Ft. Myers-based district, faces former Sen. George LeMieux in the GOP primary. The winner will face Nelson, who is seeking a third term. Recent polling has shown the race to be close, though at this point in the cycle, Nelson still has an edge.

Roll Call rates the Florida Senate race as Leans Democratic.
