A poll from Rep. Betty Sutton’s (D-Ohio) campaign shows she’s neck and neck at 45 percent with her opponent, Rep. Jim Renacci (R).

The survey, taken more than two months ago and paid for by Sutton’s campaign, suggests the two Members could be in for a fight in November. Ten percent of voters are undecided in the survey.

Ohio Republicans redrew the Congressional map earlier this year, making big changes to the northeast 16th district. They moved Sutton and Renacci into the same district, which Roll Call rates as Leans Republican.

“This is a competitive, toss-up district. In every respect, the data shows that this is a competitive district,” Mike Bocian, Sutton’s pollster, wrote in a memo obtained by Roll Call.

The poll also showed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leading President Barack Obama, 48 to 46 percent, in the district.

The survey took the opinion of 400 likely voters in the 16th district from Oct. 3 to 5 and had a 4.9 percent margin of error.

A spokeswoman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, Andrea Bozek, responded to the poll by saying voters would reject Sutton once they knew her record.

“Betty Sutton must be really nervous after voting to increase middle-class families’ taxes, why else would you release a two-month-old poll?” Bozek said.
