HOH’s One-Minute Recess: OurDC Plots Next Capitol Hill Offensive

When last we spoke with the OurDC folks, the social justice activists were camped out in the personal office of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in the hopes of shaming him into allowing a Democratic jobs bill to move forward.

That peaceful protest came to a halt about eight hours later after the Kentucky Republican outlasted the fledgling occupiers by busying himself everywhere else. But OurDC is back on Capitol Hill this week, and its bringing a bunch of new friends with it.

OurDC is setting up its “Peoples Camp” on the National Mall beginning today and expects to deploy its growing band of 99 percenters across the Capitol and K Street for some homegrown lobbying.

“In the days ahead, we’ll arrive at Congressional hearings and K street lobbyists’ offices, and by night we’ll crash in parks, church auditoriums, homes and tents around the Capitol and the District,” the group said in their latest missive.

No word, yet, on which Members they’ll be visiting this time around.
