HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Jon Bruning Gets Hacked

Shortly before 2 p.m. today, Nebraska Attorney General — and a 2012 challenger to Sen. Ben Nelson (D) — Jon Bruning’s Twitter feed went all crazy-like.

Apparently, the mildly shocking shift in tone and rapid-fire posts were all some hacker’s fault.

Before the hack, the Nebraska Republican’s feed was a slow moving one with Tweets posted every few days and topics about such innocuous stuff as having fun at an Omaha Tea Party Express rally, being stoked that football season was back in full swing and loving America.

So we had to sit up and take notice when Bruning’s Tweeters suddenly got a personality.

“Why am I worried to click though? ‘From Guthrie to Garland to Gaga: The All-TIME 100 songs,” said the first tweet. Music!

“Tragic,” began another tweet. “Report shares tales of American Indian sex victims.” Sex!

“Scholars in Indy to study how people use the Bible” read another. Religion!

There were several other tweets, each a bit bizarre and a little fun.

Alas, just as quickly as the fun appeared, the campaign deleted it — and the most interesting parts of Bruning’s feed.

“It appears my Twitter account was hacked,” the real Bruning (or his campaign) boringly tweeted. “Sorry for the previous posts.”
