HOH’s One-Minute Recess: ‘It Gets Better’ in New Jersey, Massachusetts? (VIDEO)

If you were a gay, lesbian, bisexual and/or transgender young person growing up in New Jersey or Massachusetts, would you believe it gets better if a bipartisan Congressional delegation told you to?

Probably not. Still, the New Jersey delegation released a very sweet (if incredibly awkward) biparty “It Gets Better” video this week. Back in July, the Massachusetts delegation (sans Republican Sen. Scott Brown) released its own version.

Don’t get us wrong, HOH loves all things Congressional, but the chance that growly Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), 87-year-old Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) and super-tan Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-N.J.) are aspirational figures for today’s LBGT youth is, um, doubtful.

So, here is the subtext of the video translated HOH style (You’re welcome.):

“Dear Bullied Youth,

Don’t worry! It gets better. You can grow up to become a politician and bully (and get bullied!) for America.

Love,

The United States Congress

P.S. We are an awkward group, but don’t worry, you can be that, too!”

And then depression rates for LBGT youth in New Jersey and Massachusetts suddenly skyrocket.
