More Freshmen in Patriot Program Post Strong Numbers

Updated: 9:56 p.m.

Four freshman Republicans in competitive House seats posted strong fundraising numbers last quarter, according to fundraising totals obtained Wednesday by Roll Call.

Rep. Patrick Meehan (Pa.) raised $432,000 in the second quarter of this year, while Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (Pa.) raised $423,000, Rep. Francisco “Quico” Canseco (Texas) raised more than $325,000 and Rep. Joe Heck (Nev.) brought in $300,000.

The four are among the 10 House Members in the National Republican Congressional Committee’s Patriot Program, which helps incumbents with their re-election campaigns. Members in the program must meet specific benchmarks and goals in order to receive help from the NRCC.

Four other Patriot Program colleagues have already announced strong fundraising in the second quarter. Rep. Charles Bass (N.H.) raised $303,000, Rep. Frank Guinta (N.H.) raised $303,000, Rep. Tom Latham (Iowa) raised $580,000 and Rep. Allen West (Fla.) raised $1.5 million.

The two others in the Patriot Program — Reps. Lou Barletta (Pa.) and Sean Duffy (Wis.) — have yet to release their fundraising totals for the quarter.
