Christopher Murphy Raises $925K for Senate Bid in Q2
Senate hopeful Connecticut Rep. Christopher Murphy (D) raised $925,000 in the second quarter and had $1.6 million in cash on hand at the end of June, Murphy campaign manager Kenny Curran said in a news release Friday.
In the Democratic primary race to fill retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman’s (I) seat, Murphy faces Connecticut state Rep. William Tong and former Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz.
Murphy snagged the endorsement of state firefighters on Wednesday, the third statewide labor group to back him.
Tong announced earlier this week that his campaign had raised more than $550,000 in the second quarter and had hired a number of big-name consultants for his team.
Bysiewicz’s campaign manager told the Hartford Courant on Tuesday that the campaign would release her fundraising numbers later this month.
