EMILY’s List Promotes Three Candidates to ‘On the List’

EMILY’s List announced Tuesday it has given three more Congressional hopefuls a seal of approval in the 2012 cycle.

Former state Sen. Tarryl Clark in Minnesota’s 8th district, former state Rep. Elizabeth Esty in Connecticut’s 5th district and state Treasurer Kate Marshall, who is running the Sept. 13 special election for Nevada’s 2nd district, have all been put “On the List” for the abortion rights, Democratic group.

Although being “On the List” does not qualify as a formal endorsement from EMILY’s List, it serves as a signal to the group’s community and donors that these candidates have its approval.

“Great candidates like Tarryl Clark, Kate Marshall and Elizabeth Esty are getting an early start on their 2012 campaigns and the EMILY’s List community is proud to stand with them and put them ‘On the List,’” said EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock in a statement. “After the stunning upset win by Kathy Hochul in New York, our members are more energized than ever and eager to take back the House.”

Clark, Esty and Marshall join four other female candidates to whom EMILY’s List has already given its blessing: Lois Frankel in Florida’s 22nd district, Ann Kirkpartrick in Arizona’s 1st district, Ann McLane Kuster in New Hampshire’s 2nd district and Christie Vilsack in Iowa’s 4th district.
