DCCC Outraises NRCC, Still in Debt

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee outraised its Republican counterpart last month, the second consecutive month that the House Democrats’ campaign arm has bested its rival in spite of the recent GOP takeover.
 
But the new numbers also show a DCCC steeped in debt, despite its recent fundraising gains under the leadership of the new chairman, Rep. Steve Israel (N.Y.).

Specifically, the DCCC last month raised $5.2 million compared with the National Republican Congressional Committee’s $4.9 million. Overall, the DCCC reports $5.9 million in cash on hand and $17.3 million in debt.
 
The NRCC, meanwhile, reported $4.3 million in the bank and debts of $9.5 million, according to Hotline On Call.
 
“The NRCC and the Republican majority are off to a rocky start under Chairman Pete Sessions and Speaker John Boehner,” DCCC spokeswoman Jennifer Crider said. “For the second straight month, the DCCC outraised the NRCC.”
