Hill Talk: New Community Center Names Executive Director

The Old Naval Hospital Foundation named Diana Bosworth Ingraham as the first executive director of the Hill Center, a community center on Capitol Hill.

Ingraham was chosen after a nationwide search. The center, which will focus on arts and education, is set to open this summer.

“Hill Center will bring rich opportunities to one of the most exciting communities in the Washington area,” Ingraham said in a release. “I look forward to spear-heading such a vibrant new venture.”

For the past 13 years, Ingraham ran US Independents, a consulting company that provides media and business help to filmmakers, public media outlets and nonprofit organizations.

“Diana is a real find,” said Nicky Cymrot, president of the Old Naval Foundation’s board of directors. “The foundation is delighted to have someone with a wealth of professional experiences that so well suit the many needs of the Hill Center and the diverse community it will serve.”

Poetry at the LOC

The Library of Congress will feature nine poets and a group of Shakespearean actors in its spring Poetry at Noon program.

The first program, “Love Poems,” will take place Feb. 15 and feature Michael Salcman, Michele Wolf and Sue Brannan Walker. The three poets will read their own poems and share work from other well-known poets.

“Reversals of Fortune” will take place on March 15, with poets Janee Baugher, Sarah Crossland and Elisavietta Ritchie.

Actors will take over on April 19 as a part of the annual Shakespeare’s Birthday Reading. The actors are from the George Washington University Academy for Classical Acting.

“Away From Home,” the final program on May 24, will feature poets Anne Harding Woodworth, Jody Bolz and Tom Healy.

The programs will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the Whittall Pavilion at the Thomas Jefferson Building (10 First St. SE). They are free and open to the public.
