Ask Roll Call: Twitter Q&A Transcript
Posted February 2, 2011 at 9:53am
Roll Call is continuing Twitter Q-and-A sessions with staff writers. The inaugural edition was with Steve Dennis and you can read that transcript here. White House reporter Jennifer Bendery did last week’s edition.
This week, politics reporter Steve Peoples answered questions about 2012. Since it was on Twitter, of course, his answers were kept to under 140 characters.
A transcript follows.

Q1 ! RT @seendsley2011: @rollcall @sppeoples how much research goes into the job, and how much is simply recording quotes?
.@seendsley2011 Research big part of job so I know what to ask & best ppl to find. Best reporting is from field like my NH trip ^@sppeoples
Q2 ! MT @enriquebrao: W/ healthcare, are republicans planning to do away with all or do they want to incorp some. I have yet to see a plan
.@enriquebrao I haven’t seen plan yet, mostly rhetoric. Dangerous pol issue since some benefits popular. Expect small changes ^@sppeoples
Q3 ! RT @IrishinNOLA Do you see any chance for Gulf Coast 8(a) Certification Extension by Sen. Mary Landrieu, Chair of Senate SBA Oversight?
.@IrishinNOLA Not following this partic. bill, but if it costs money & doesn’t create jobs, chances for full passage slim ^@sppeoples
Q4! MT @cab1950 Why aren’t these guys [Rivera] vetted while campaigning? Seems as though all of this could have been uncovered prior to Nov
.@cab1950 That Q was in re: Freshman David Rivera (R) & some ethics issues. https://roll.cl/fNp1vV ^@sppeoples
Q8! MT @Publius2011 May I ask if there is any sense on the Hill about a solution to the Medicare Sustained Growth Rate issue? Thank you
.@Publius2011 Medicare dangerous political issue. Everybody’s talking but I wouldn’t expect substantive change before 2013. ^@sppeoples
Final Q from Roll Call’s @cbellantoni. You cover Scott Brown, Bill Nelson, Olympia Snowe & Conn. Senate. Your prediction for surprises?
.@cbellantoni Don’t be surprised if Brown, Snowe & Conn. Dem (prob. Murphy) win fairly easily but Bill Nelson may struggle in FL ^@sppeoples
