HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Are You Ready for Some Football?

There’s nothing like a friendly wager to make a football game a bit more interesting.

Reps. Reid Ribble (R-Wis.) and Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) are betting on this Sunday’s National Football Conference championship game between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. The Member whose team loses will have to wear a tie bearing the logo of the winning team for one day when the House is in session.

“I’ve picked out the brightest Packers tie possible for Congressman Lipinski,” Ribble said in a release.

But that’s not all. The Congressmen are also sharing treats from their home states. If the Bears win, Ribble will give Lipinski bratwursts from Maplewood Meats in Green Bay and fried cheese curds from Scray Cheese in De Pere. In the event the Packers are victorious, Lipinski will deliver pizza from Home Run Inn in Chi-town to Ribble’s office.

“For Bears fans and Packers fans this game is bigger than the Super Bowl,” Lipinski said in a release. He added a bit of trash talk: “The icing on the cake will be watching Rep. Ribble sport Bears’ navy blue and orange in the halls of Congress.”
