HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Looking for Love

Turns out a House evacuation drill can be a chance to pick up a date — that is, if you can work up the courage to ask someone out. One lonely male staffer is in search of the “extremely handsome guy” he spotted while waiting to be let back into the Rayburn House Office Building during an evacuation drill last week. The staffer has gone so far as to post a note on Craigslist under the “Missed Connections” section titled “Saw my future husband during the House evacuations!”

The listing describes a man wearing a gray polo shirt and jeans standing in the Rayburn courtyard. “I made eye contact with you a few times, but you were in the middle of telling a story so I didn’t want to interrupt,” the staffer writes. He adds that the object of his affection had a brace on his right foot. “I would love to help you ‘rehabilitate’ … or at least meet up for a coffee,” he writes. Here’s hoping these two crazy kids can find each other.

Overheard on the Hill

“My husband thinks I tweet about what I had for breakfast, so in honor of him, made breakfast pizza for family on wonderful Big Green Egg grill.”

— Sen. Claire McCaskill in a Saturday tweet. The Missouri Democrat is one of the more prolific tweeters in Congress.
