HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Quality Recommendations

Forget travel guidebooks — when actor Edward Burns wants to know where to go in D.C., he just asks his Twitter followers.

HOH caught up with the star Tuesday night at the Newseum, just before he screened his latest independent flick, “Nice Guy Johnny.” Burns arrived in town from New York earlier in the day and told us that when he wanted to find a decent place to grab lunch (and maybe a beer or two), he just posted a tweet asking for recommendations.

Moments later, he wound up at Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place on the Georgetown waterfront, where he enjoyed a nice piece of fish, he said.

But it wasn’t all play and no work for Burns during his D.C. trip. Tuesday’s event, sponsored by Comcast’s David Cohen and Tribeca Enterprises co-founder Jane Rosenthal, was only the second time that Burns had screened the film; he previously showcased it at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it was well-received.

“This is our first away game,” Burns said.

Burns hoped the Members of Congress on hand would appreciate the film, which he described as a romantic comedy about 20-somethings trying to follow their dreams (without selling out).

“Like any audience, you’re just nervous,” he said. “We’re keeping our fingers crossed that they have a sense of humor.”
