Nation: Club for Growth Puts Muscle Into More Races

The Club for Growth announced its endorsements of two Senate candidates Wednesday: Utah Republican Mike Lee, a lawyer who just won the runoff to replace defeated Sen. Bob Bennett (R), and Wisconsin Republican Ron Johnson, a businessman who is expected to take on Sen. Russ Feingold (D).

Lee won the nomination after Bennett was eliminated at the GOP nominating convention. The club’s political action committee didn’t endorse in that contest but attacked Bennett repeatedly.

Johnson, who owns a plastics manufacturing company in Oshkosh, has promised to use millions of dollars of his own money to oust Feingold.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) announced that his Senate Conservatives Fund political action committee would also be supporting Johnson.
