Van Scoyoc Branches Out With New Consulting Shop

Van Scoyoc Associates is launching a new federal marketing and business consulting firm, VSConsulting Inc. The new non-lobbying consulting firm will focus on the defense industry and higher education as well as signing clients from overseas.

Martin Cargas and Christopher Bourne are joining as vice presidents of VSConsulting. Cargas joins the firm from Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc., where he was responsible for international relations. Bourne comes on board following a career in the U.S. Marine Corps. He will focus on aerospace, technology and national security issues.

This isn’t the first time Van Scoyoc Associates has branched out into non-lobbying consulting. For the past several years, the firm has had a subsidiary, the Implementation Group. Headed by Joe Danek, the Implementation Group will now be a division of VSConsulting instead of a separate corporation.

VSConsulting will later add association management and public relations consulting to its offerings.

“In a way, this new company was created as a vehicle for the remarkable talents of the staff, including our new VPs Chris Bourne and Marty Cargas,” Van Scoyoc Associates founder Stu Van Scoyoc said in a statement. “We expect great things from Chris, because of his deep understanding of defense issues and technology, and from Marty, based on his many years of international experience. And we expect continued success from The Implementation Group.”

Van Scoyoc Associates and its Capitol Decisions subsidiary will continue to operate as separate entities.
