South Dakota: House Hopeful Curd Airing First Radio Ad

State Rep. Blake Curd (R) is up with his first radio ad in the campaign for the state’s at-large House seat.

The 60-second introductory spot is airing for two weeks in Rapid City and Sioux Falls, the state’s two biggest media markets.

“A doctor, an Air Force Persian Gulf Veteran, Blake Curd has answered the call to serve,” the narrator says.

Then Curd speaks about Washington’s problems and goes after Democratic incumbent Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. Herseth Sandlin, he says, “has had her chance. She hasn’t changed Congress, she’s become part of the problem.”

Curd faces a competitive primary against Secretary of State Chris Nelson and state House Assistant Majority Leader Kristi Noem.

Curd led Nelson in fundraising in 2009 and also has personal wealth. Noem joined the contest in February.

The primary election is June 8.
