Dole Recovering From Pneumonia at Walter Reed

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.), who is special counsel at the firm Alston & Bird, is recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center after a case of pneumonia, according to multiple news outlets. Dole, a former GOP Senate leader, was admitted to the hospital three weeks ago to address a respiratory condition and stayed on for physical therapy for his knee, the Associated Press reported. Dole, 86, had knee surgery late last year.

Dole spent nearly four decades in politics, including a failed run for the White House in 1996.

At the lobbying firm, Dole has worked on a variety of issues, including health care reform. His clients in recent years have included the Kansas Health Foundation and the National Association for Home Care and Hospice.
