HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Cheech and Chong Plus Barack and Barney?

Comedic duo Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are famous for their love of marijuana, and they told HOH that they would love the chance to light up alongside two of Washington’s most famous residents.[IMGCAP(1)]Marin and Chong — better known as “Cheech and Chong— — received the Trailblazer Award at the Marijuana Policy Project’s 15th anniversary gala at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill on Wednesday night. And when HOH chatted with the pair before the sit-down dinner, we asked which Washingtonians they’d most like to get high with. While Cheech said newbie Fox News analyst Sarah Palin is most in need of a joint, he’d most like to smoke the herb with President Barack Obama.“He’d know what to do, and he’d probably have good music,— Cheech said. “We could play some basketball.—Chong said he’d most like to light up with Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), a longtime supporter of marijuana legalization.“He’s a smoker from way back,— Chong said. “He’d have the good stuff.—So where does the duo like to smoke when they come to Washington? Cheech couldn’t name a specific spot, but he said D.C. has plenty of rooftops with great views that fit the bill. Chong agreed he likes to get high on rooftops or in basements because “the only way I can get high is if I’m hiding,— he joked — but he picked the very public Lincoln Memorial as his favorite spot. “It’s just open air, and you can really get behind what he was doing,— Chong said of the 16th president.Cheech and Chong weren’t the only VIPs advocating for marijuana Wednesday night. Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) spoke at the dinner and joked that he was the only Member of Congress brave enough to show up.“Maybe that says something about my political judgement,— Cohen said. “I hope not. … I thought it was high time somebody other than Barney Frank came to speak on issues like this.—Cohen joked that marijuana advocates might have an easier time getting pot legalized if they changed its name to something such as “Jim Beam— or “Johnnie Walker.— “You need to get a good name for it,— he said. “Something that gets in the American bloodstream.—Submit your hot tips, juicy gossip or comments here.Can’t get enough HOH?
