Herrity, Fimian in GOP Battle For Virginia Rep. Connolly’s Seat

County supervisor Pat Herrity (R-Va.) on Wednesday announced his campaign against Rep. Gerald E. Connolly (D) and drew some fire from a Republican opponent who is waging a rematch campaign against Connolly in the 11th district.

Herrity, who represents part of Fairfax County, told CQ Politics that he “is the only candidate in the race who has a demonstrated record of fiscal responsibility,” pointing to his work on the county board to rein in government spending.

“The answer to every problem seems to be more and bigger government programs,” Herrity said. “It’s time to get control of government spending; it’s time to take government back to its core functions.”
