Military Veteran Seeks GOP Nod Against Virginia Rep. Moran

A retired Army colonel and Iraq war veteran is the latest Republican to prepare for a 2010 campaign against Rep. James P. Moran (D-Va.) in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C.

Patrick Murray (R) recently filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to initiate a campaign in the 8th district, which includes all of Arlington, Alexandria and Falls Church and parts of Fairfax County.

Murray’s campaign Web site says he supports spending cuts and reducing personal and business tax rates and opposes a “card check” measure to ease union organizing.
