McMahon to Meet With Senate GOP Leaders

Former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon — who is vying to be the Republican Senate nominee in Connecticut — is meeting with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky) and other GOP leaders on her trip to Washington, D.C., this week.

McMahon is scheduled to meet McConnell and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) today, followed by a session with Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) on Tuesday.

McMahon said in a Monday morning interview that the meetings were scheduled so that Senate leaders could ask her questions about her bid, and not because she was seeking their endorsements. She also said she was meeting Monday with staff at Freedom Works, although former Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-Texas) will not be attending. Armey chairs the conservative grassroots organization.

McMahon and former Rep. Rob Simmons are running in the GOP primary for the chance to take on Democratic Sen. Christopher J. Dodd . Polls have indicated that Dodd is one of the most vulnerable Democratic senators up for re-election this cycle.
