Fiorina Delivers Weekly GOP Address

In another sign that the national GOP is trying to boost Carly Fiorina in her bid for California Senate, the party tapped the former Hewlett-Packard CEO to give the weekly Republican radio address Saturday. In her remarks, Fiorina questioned the recent recommendations of a government task force on mammograms and portrayed it as an omen of things to come under if the Democratic health care overhaul is enacted.

Fiorina, who is looking to take on Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), cited her own battle with breast cancer in decrying the assessment that women under the age of 50 don’t need regular mammograms.

“We all know that the chances of surviving cancer are greater the earlier it’s detected,” she said. “If I’d followed this new recommendation and waited another two years, I’m not sure I’d be alive today.”
