Corker’s Daughter Victim of Carjacking

Sen. Bob Corker’s (R-Tenn.) 22-year-old daughter was the victim of a carjacking in Northwest Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening, his office confirmed Thursday.

According to a statement from Corker’s office, his daughter Julia was en route to the apartment she shares with her father around 9:15 p.m. when she was pulled from her Chevy Tahoe and thrown to the ground.

A source familiar with the situation said the incident occurred near Chinatown, a highly trafficked area of the city that is also home to the Verizon Center. Julia Corker was stopped at an intersection when the incident occurred.

In the release, Corker’s office said his daughter “did not suffer serious injuries. She is a bit sore and shaken up but doing well. Senator Corker was nearby and able to get to the scene of the incident very quickly.—

Maryland police later took multiple people into custody shortly after the attack, which drew the attention of the Metropolitan Police Department, Capitol Police and the FBI.
