Restaurants to Open for Senate on Saturday

Senators and staffers stuck on Capitol Hill Saturday won’t go hungry: Officials announced Friday that they are keeping two restaurants open.American Grill will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Capitol Carryout will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to an e-mail sent to Senate staffers. The Senate will be in session Saturday for a scheduled 8 p.m. cloture vote on health care reform legislation.Senate officials are wise to keep food available — in 2008, House staffers complained that cafeterias were closed during a weekend they spent working on a bailout bill (however, officials did in fact keep some quicker food options open, such as Capitol Carryout).
