FEC Fines Law Firm for Edwards Donations

A Michigan law firm has been fined $131,000 for illegally reimbursing employee campaign contributions to then-Sen. John Edwards’ (D-N.C.) 2004 presidential campaign. According to vague details released Thursday by the Federal Election Commission, the Fieger, Fieger, Kenney, Johnson & Giroux law firm made 66 conduit contributions totaling $131,000 to Edwards’ presidential campaign five years ago.The former Tar Heel State lawmaker eventually became the vice presidential running mate of Sen. John Kerry (Mass.), who was the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee.
