Kansas: Fourth Republican Enters 4th District Race

Businessman Wink Hartman (R) announced his campaign for Congress on Wednesday in the 4th district, becoming the fourth major GOP candidate in the race. Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R) is leaving the Wichita-area seat to run for Senate in 2010.

As the CEO of an oil company, Hartman would be in a position to pour considerable personal resources into the race.

State Sen. Dick Kelsey, businessman Mike Pompeo and state Sen. Jean Schodorf are running for the GOP nod.

State Rep. Raj Goyle (D) has also announced a campaign, but the district is a GOP stronghold and the winner of the Republican nomination is expected to be the next Member of Congress.
