Hutchison Confirms Plans to Resign Seat This Fall

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) confirmed Wednesday that she will resign her seat this fall to run for governor, but she declined to offer a firm date for her exit.Hutchison told reporters on Capitol Hill this afternoon that she intends to formally announce her 2010 candidacy for Texas governor next month. She said her delay in announcing a definite date to leave the Senate was related to incumbent Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) and what he plans to do next year.
