Mike Honda (D-Calif.), standing next to his son Mark, is the guest of honor at a 1981 surprise party thrown for him at Hillsdale Elementary School (now called Captain Jason Dahl Elementary School) in San Jose, Calif. The school, which was where Honda first served as principal, was thanking him for his work with local youths in preventing violence.
