HOH’s One-Minute Recess: Let the Sun Shine In

Last time former Vice President Al Gore came to Capitol Hill to testify about global warming, the snowstorm outside didn’t exactly reinforce his hot topic. But for today’s appearance before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Gore has a much more on-message forecast on his side: Previously chilly temps in Washington are set to soar into the 70s today, and could go as high as a sultry 90 degrees this weekend.

[IMGCAP(1)]Back in March, Washington chatterers made much of the fact that Gore’s appearance coincided with a massive snowstorm battering the East Coast. Surely, here was proof that global warming really is a fairy tale spun by lefty greenies, they said.

Now, the summer-like conditions accompanying Gore’s return to D.C. offer just as certain proof that global warming is real.

Disclaimer: Before the scientists start throwing their beakers and No. 2 pencils at us, let us just say we’re aware that a few day’s weather here and there doesn’t a global weather phenomenon make. But here in Washington, it doesn’t take a PhD to know that backdrops matter.
