Illinois: Jackson Turns 44 With Windy City Fundraiser

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D) will celebrate his 44th birthday Friday night in Chicago with a fundraiser. According to fundraising event details obtained by Roll Call, Jackson will host his annual birthday celebration at restaurant 312 Chicago in the Windy City’s downtown area. Suggested contributions for the birthday event are $2,400 for the benefactor level, $1,000 for a sponsor, $500 for a patron and $250 for a friend. Jackson ended the 2008 cycle with $461,200 in the bank. Jackson had expressed interest in being appointed to President Barack Obama’s former Senate seat, but his interest waned when it was revealed that he was discussed in the federal complaint against former Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D). Jackson has not been accused of any wrongdoing and is not a target of the investigation. Blagojevich, who according to the complaint was looking to sell his appointment to the highest bidder, was impeached from office in January.
