Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) was released from Virginia Hospital Center on Friday after recovering from surgery earlier in the week to remove a spot on his lower left lung. The spot, found during a follow-up exam to a routine physical in November, is benign. The first-term Senator and former Agriculture secretary under President George W. Bush expects to return to work on March 16.“I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome of the surgery and I am working my way back to a full recovery,— Johanns said in a statement. “My staff is doing a great job of keeping me up to date and I’m anxious to rejoin them and my colleagues to work on the many important matters facing our state and nation.”
