SEIU Launches TV Ad Defending Reid

After the National Republican Senatorial Committee targeted Majority Leader Harry Reid this week in its first TV ad of the 2010 cycle, the Service Employees International Union responded Friday with an ad in support of the Nevada Democrat.

“The extreme right wing of the Republican leadership seem so stuck in the divisive politics of the past that they didn’t get the memo of change American voters delivered in 2008,” SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger said in a statement. “Their first ad of the season is an attack ad on an economic recovery bill that every working family wants, every economist agrees we need and many of their own Republican Senators support.”

While the NRSC ad encouraged viewers to tell Reid to “stop wasting our hard-earned money,” the SEIU ad, which is being released statewide, praises Reid for his work to put together the economic recovery package.

“Call Sen. Reid and thank him for working to make sure Nevada gets our fair share — to get the economy moving again,” the narrator says in the SEIU ad.
