Nevada: NRSC Begins TV Ad Assault Against Reid

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is targeting Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) in its first television ad of the 2010 cycle.

The new ad, which began airing in the Reno media market this week, hits the Majority Leader on his support for last year’s financial bailout bill as well as his calls for another stimulus bill.

“As Democrat leader, he helped pay for vicious attack ads criticizing last year’s bailouts,” a narrator says over a picture of Reid in the 30-second ad. “But guess who voted for the $700 billion bailout. You guessed it — Harry Reid. And now he wants a trillion more dollars in new spending? … Tell Harry Reid to stop wasting our hard-earned money.”

Despite the fact that Republicans don’t currently have a candidate in the Senate race, Reid is considered among the most vulnerable Democrats up for re-election this cycle and the NRSC has signaled that it plans to go after him early and often. Last week the NRSC blasted Reid for comments he made to ABC News on Inauguration Day in which he said he will continue to do business with lobbyists.
