Former EPA Chief Browner Joins Transition

The Obama-Biden transition team announced Wednesday that former Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Carol Browner will lead the energy and environment “working group,” a move that likely puts her in line for a senior post in the administration of President-elect Barack Obama. The working groups are charged with developing policies out of proposals from the Obama campaign.

Leading the health working group is former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), who has been tapped by Obama to be the Health and Human Services secretary.

Daniel Tarullo, a White House economic aide to former President Bill Clinton, will head the economic working group. Leading the national security group will be James Steinberg — a former Clinton national security aide mentioned as a possible Obama national security adviser — and Susan Rice, a former Clinton adviser on Africa who has served as a senior adviser to Obama on foreign affairs.
