Missouri: NRCC TV Ad Hits Baker on Tax Policy

The National Republican Congressional Committee was up with a new television ad in retiring Rep. Kenny Hulshof’s (R) northeastern district Wednesday, this time attacking first-term state Rep. Judy Baker (D) on taxes and the economy.

“In these tough economic times, every dollar counts. That is, to everyone except Judy Baker,” a narrator says as the ad begins. “Baker wants to do away with the tax cuts we’ve received during the last six years, and Baker will hurt families and seniors by supporting more than $2,000 a year in tax increases.”

“Baker already voted for higher small-business taxes that cost us money and jobs,” the ad closes. “When every dollar counts, we just can’t afford Judy Baker.”

The ad was the first television buy in the district, according to Federal Election Commission records through Wednesday. Baker is facing former state tourism director Blaine Luetkemeyer (R) in what is considered a tossup race.
