Reid Says Senate Will Be in Pro Forma

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) confirmed that the Senate will meet in pro forma session when the chamber recesses so it can respond to Wall Street troubles.

One day after Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) said he asked Reid to keep the Senate partially operating when it recesses, Reid said he had agreed to it so that several committees with jurisdiction over the economy could meet in case of more economic fallout.

“If there is a need for us to come back, we stand ready to do so,” Reid said.
