Chambliss Airs First Ad of Re-election Campaign

Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R) has released the first commercials of his re-election battle against former state Rep. Jim Martin (D).

The two statewide television spots come just two weeks after the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee released polling numbers that showed Chambliss with a mid-single digit lead in the Peach State.

Chambliss is featured in one television spot, in which he discusses his conservative values that have led him to fight for “smaller government, lower taxes, the sanctity of life … and for the right of each of us to help our children seek their dreams without government trying to control our lives.”

Chambliss’ second commercial features his wife, Julianne, discussing why she admires Chambliss as a husband, father and grandfather.

Martin is coming off an Aug. 5 special election runoff in which he handily defeated DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Vernon Jones.

Although Chambliss has a massive cash-on-hand advantage, the DSCC could complicate things for the first-term Senator if it decides to put heavy resources into the contest.
