Alaska’s Young in Statistical Tie Two Weeks Out

New polling data released this week showed embattled Rep. Don Young (Alaska) behind Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell in the Republican primary, but only by a small margin.

Parnell led with 42 percent of the vote in the Basswood Research survey taken for his campaign. Young, whose bid for a 19th term has been clouded by ethical problems, garnered 38 percent, and state Rep. Gabrielle LeDoux (R) had 8 percent. Twelve percent of respondents were undecided with two weeks to go before the Aug. 26 primary.

The poll of 300 likely voters was taken Aug. 5 and had a 6-point margin of error.

The Club for Growth has endorsed Parnell, as has Gov. Sarah Palin (R).
