Alabama: Democrat Leads in Deep South Open Seat

Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright (D) released a new poll that showed him with a 10-point lead over state Rep. Jay Love (R) in the race to replace retiring Rep. Terry Everett (R) in the 2nd district.

An Anzalone Liszt Research poll of 400 likely voters showed Bright leading 50 percent to 40 percent. According to the poll, both men had nearly the same name identification in the district: Bright had 79 percent name ID to Love’s 74 percent.

The survey, released Friday, was conducted Aug. 3-6 and had a 4.9-point margin of error.
