Shop Talk: Total Spectrum of Services

Veteran Republican operatives Steve Gordon and Gregg Keller have joined forces to launch Total Spectrum, a GOP grass-roots and communications firm.

[IMGCAP(1)]Gordon, of Gordon & Associates, brings 30 years of experience to the table as a Republican fundraiser, including raising money for Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (Ariz.).

Keller’s expertise is in grass-roots politics, having previously served as the campaign manager for then-Sen. Jim Talent’s (R-Mo.) losing bid for re- election in 2006 and grass-roots director for ex-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s failed 2008 bid for the GOP presidential nomination.

Among the services provided by the D.C.-based Total Spectrum are grass-roots and communications consulting, fundraising and Federal Election Commission compliance consulting.

Growth at the DFL. The Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party has beefed up its communications team, hiring John Stiles as communications director and Eric Fought as associate communications director.

Stiles most recently served as the DFL’s associate communications director and takes over as communications chief after the departure of Kelly Schwinghammer.

Schwinghammer left the DFL to take a job as national communications director for the Blue Green Alliance, a partnership between the Sierra Club and the United Steelworkers union.

Fought most recently served as campaign manager for Nebraska Senate candidate Tony Raimondo, who lost to Scott Kleeb in the Cornhusker State’s May 13 Democratic primary. Prior to that, Fought was the communications director for the Nebraska Democratic Party.

No Countryman for Cole-Men. Gina Countryman has joined the Minnesota Republican Party as communications director. She takes over for Mark Drake, who recently left the party to join Sen. Norm Coleman’s (R-Minn.) re-election campaign.

Countryman has worked at the state party for several years, most recently as research director. She has also worked in the communications office of Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R).
